The HC-SR04 Ultrasonic Sensor is a popular distance measurement module used in Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, and other microcontroller-based projects. It measures distance by transmitting ultrasonic sound waves and detecting the echo reflected from nearby objects.
The module has four pins: VCC, GND, Trigger, and Echo.
When triggered, the HC-SR04 sends out ultrasonic waves and waits for the echo to return.
The pulse duration on the Echo pin is used to calculate the distance.
Distance (cm) = (Time × 0.034) / 2
The division by 2 accounts for the sound wave's journey to the object and back.
The HC-SR04 is widely used for distance measurement and object detection projects.
